About Us
The Begonia Society of Western Australia brings together people across WA who share a passion for growing, propagating, and hybridising begonias. Whether you’re a first-time grower curious about a striking leaf you spotted at a nursery, or you’ve spent years refining your own hybrids, our members are here to share what they know and learn from each other.
What we do
We meet regularly across three branches — Perth, Donnybrook, and Albany — to swap cuttings, talk through growing challenges, and celebrate whatever’s currently in bloom. Members bring along their own plants to share, show off recent finds, and get hands-on advice from people who’ve grown a particular variety for years. No question is too basic, and no collection is ever “too small” to join in.
Beyond our regular meetings, the Society works to:
- Build connections among people who share a love of begonias
- Share knowledge of begonia types, propagation techniques, and proper care
- Support the creation and advancement of Western Australian hybrids and cultivars
